What Is Prorsum?

Let's play pretend. Pretend I'm sitting front row, center at Burberry Prorsum's Fall catwalk somewhere between Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung. The show begins with a string of models gliding down the runway making me gush in sheer admiration. Gasping I murmur, "Burberry is that you?" In a world where everyone's looking to pop the next big idea, where big fashion houses are trying to balance the fine line of rejuvenation and heritage, my thoughts are, "Bring it on, Christopher Bailey!" "Those owl print tops are my jam," points Alexa smirking in her seat. "Sick leather gloves," notes Will.i.am from behind his gold framed glasses. At the sight of model Cara Delevingne's knee length skirt, "I wish I was a little bit taller" whimpers a show goer sitting a few rows behind. " Love those sporty puffers... Perfect for everyday," whispers Rosie's luscious lips while Kate Bosworth nods in agreement. Anna Wintour seated across donning her signature 'do... "...".... Sorry I blanked- You never know what that woman's thinking. I hope she's appreciating the rich velvety fabrics in military green and the hip extentuating bow belts. "Mira! Esta lluvioso," espanol for "Look! It's raining!" shouts photographer Mario Testino as the models do their final line up each holding an umbrella underneath Bailey's faux rain.

Just Another Boho Babe

Unique spirit, dear friend, and savvy strategist at airbnb*, Jessica Semaan, wrote to me on whatsapp a few weeks ago saying, "Can you come to San Francisco so we go to Coachella? My friend booked Katy Perry's house!"

I'm currently deciding between some 3 or 4 job proposals, each one vastly different from the next and with its own set of pros and cons. Decisions, decisions my friends! Also, April is not really the time of year when I get bitten by the travel bug. So sadly, I won't be making it to Indio, California. I won't be eating cornflakes in Katy Perry's kitchen or sleeping on one of her beds or even jumping in her backyard pool (I'm assuming she has one). But most regrettably, I won't be floating around in any Boho outfits while jammin' to the line up of incredible sets... What I will probably be doing is chilling in my hometown of Jal el Dib partaking in the fight to build a much needed bridge! If you're Lebanese and watch the news you'll understand...

Jessica! Represent. Joe Daoud, you too!!

"Saturdaze"

A few Saturdays ago when it had just turned spring and the sun was shining on my city, I spent an afternoon with friends over Lukoz and Arak at the ever so famous Sporting Beach Club. Et voila some of my captures...

Wednesday Whimsy: Boys That Aren't Toys

On finding your other half? Olivia Red says, "No one comes factory made. Boys, girls, relationships, friends... No one comes washed and ready-to-eat. Sometimes we have to sculpt, wash, chip away, refine, add ingredients, take out, whatever."

Moral of the story is that on this search for the half that Zeus split you from, keep an open mind, an open heart. In the time you've been apart and on your quest to find your way back to one another, life happens.

Experiences alter us, but at your core, you were meant to be. :)

Almonds are a Girl's Bestfriend

Spring is officially here. Back with the hay fever, the sneezing, the loathsome treks to the gym, the Oh My Gods "I'm so white", the brain-pounding noise from neighboring construction work... Am't I full of positivity?! But there's also the rejuvenating sunshine, the lighter moods, the "backyard" barbecues, the floral duds, the tweet tweet of birds, and most importantly for the purpose of this post the omnipresent almond carriages scattered around the city!

Take your skin from wind-chapped winter to supple spring with my favorite body cream, Concentre de Lait Amande* by L'Occitane. I keep the jar of this mood-elevating moisturizer on my bedside table to take a good sniff of its delectable milky aroma at every chance I get. Guess you could liken it to smelling glue, play-dough or markers for a 'high'. This is how much I heart it.

The Little Ones

If you're toning your abs you're doing just right because bra tops, bustiers, and bandeaus are back in full effect this spring, ladies! Can you imagine stepping out on the streets of Beirut dressed liked you're in your boudoir? I don't even think I'd make it down 11 flights in my elevator without an old school neighbor looking twice at me wondering if the family living above is really just a brothel and if the woman posing as my mother was really my Madame. And you can forget walking more than 5 feet without the possibility of causing a fender bender in a city where young ladies are honked at even if clad in granny's knitted sweater. I exaggerate but you get the picture.

So while this trend is LOVE-ly, it's adoptability on the streets of Beirut is highly unlikely. Perhaps in another geography or unless I throw on a cardigan or blazer for cover... but nah we all know what humidity in Beirut feels like.
